XIV International Symposium on Plant Bioregulators in Fruit Production
septiembre 20 - septiembre 24

The next 14th International Symposium on Plant Bioregulators in Fruit Production will be organized by the Fondazione Edmund Mach located in the northern Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige, the gate of the dolomite alps. Besides the beautiful scenario, the fame of this region depends also on its horticulture. Trentino-Alto Adige contributes more than 70% of the Italian apple production and produces a remarkable variety of fine wines and soft berries.
The production and quality of these fruits are guaranteed by a complex of physiological mechanisms occurring in several organs of the plant and how these can be governed in order to achieve the best results. It is already from the ‘40s that both natural and synthetic Plant Growth Regulators have been employed to modify the several aspects of the plant metabolism, from the modification of dormancy to the control of flowering, fruit development and ripening till the prevention of postharvest spoilage. The role of Plant Regulators in horticulture is undoubtedly important and because of this their mode of action and application has always stimulated the interest of scientists, technologists and companies involved in the amelioration of quality to satisfy the consumers of the future and the needs of a rapidly changing world.
This new appointment would offer another enthusiastic opportunity to meet all together in the unique scenario of the Garda Lake, sharing the latest scientific and technological discoveries about the role and use of plant regulators in fruit production.
